ZION BLACKSMITH SCHOOL

Zion Blacksmith School offers intensive beginning to intermediate skilled blacksmith classes.  Come in with limited, or no experience, and leave with 5-7 fully completed, well executed projects.  Cost of class is $550.

Unlike any other blacksmith school, at Zion Blacksmith School, you are able to choose the direction your skills are molded by selecting the projects you do.  Projects are technique based to establish skills that will be used in subsequent projects.  At the end of three days, you will leave with a new level of confidence in your forging ability and an arsenal of well honed skills including tapering, twisting, scrolling, forge welding and joinery.  As a testament of your newly acquired skills, you will also take home several beautiful pieces of hand forged ironwork, all crafted by you.

Gordon Williams has been teaching people the art of blacksmithing since the early 90's.  He  operated a school in Arizona at his shop, Victory Forge; was the resident instructor for ten years at Pieh Tool Company, and has taught numerous classes around the country at blacksmith guilds and associations.

Gordon is known throughout the blacksmithing community as the Energizer Bunny due to what seems like an unlimited supply of energy.  It's this energy level that sets Gordon apart as an instructor.  Most classes have students progressing through the same project at the same time. Those more skilled, wait on the rest. Gordon's high energy level affords him the amazing ability to have five students working on different projects, each at their own pace with no-one standing around waiting for instruction. 

Everyone agrees, when you take a blacksmith class under Gordon Williams, you get your money's worth! Classes are intensive. You will be busy all day, every day. Gordon is going to teach you as much as you are willing to learn but he will NEVER simply show you something then leave you to try and fumble through it. He provides all the assistance, individual attention and guidance you need in order to be successful and confident in the skills you are learning.  It is hard work but Gordon's fun sense of humor, the variety of projects and level of accomplishment make it fly by.  Most people find day one to be tough, both physically and mentally, due to the learning curve. But by day two, their skill base has increased, their body adjusts and they find a groove. By day three, they don't want to quit!
